The first question is about literacy – helping people gain the basic skills to succeed in life. The second question is about volunteerism – committing time to a worthwhile cause. The third question is about leadership – the ability to steer to a better future. These are the qualities we seek in our fellow Board members.
Our Board of Directors intends to broaden the organization’s impact with a number of new strategic initiatives, but we need to grow the Board to get the right talent in place.
Just so there is no confusion, we are a “working board.” This means that we don’t just show up at meetings and give opinions. While the opinions are important, we also need the follow-up that turns thought into action.
